| Welcome! |
| Hi there, we're almost back to real life after the conference - well catching up on everything that took a back seat to getting Events Day 07: Focus on Being Different off the ground! It was a fantastic day, and sorry, but we really have to brag a little in this issue! Although there is a little bit of other news. Enjoy and look forward to seeing you soon. Sarah |

| Events Day 07: Focus on Being Different - The Star Speakers |
Well, they were all stars in their own right. Every one of them and I was so proud. You'll find a complete report on the day from Conor in other pages, but this one is my own personal thanks to our speakers, all of whom gave so generously of their time and expertise to help make the day such a success. My favourite feedback of the day was: "It was the most interesting conference that I have ever attended. Your Speakers were really wonderful, inspiring and informative and also very entertaining". Now that's saying something!

Networking with Tricia Murphy :
As expected, Tricia helped everyone network away... |
Deirdre Bounds was so funny, natural, inspiring and human. We all loved her and she really got us all thinking about how to be different. |
Tara Fay showed us the level of detail necessary to transform a broken shell into the set of the aviator!
Kieran O'Byrne in a brilliant presentation on the launch of eBay Ireland had amazing stats on the media coverage. |
Mark & Conor brought us through the experience of a lifetime with the first Street Performance World Championships. And a preview of the next. Can't wait! |
Martin McMullan shook us all up a little with his presentation on Fair Trade coffee just before lunchtime. Making a difference that helps other people was the point we all came away with. |
Tom Raftery told us in understandable language what blogging is actually all about. We loved him! |
Mark Thornton brought us through the technologies that the Irish Hospitality Insitute use - like podcasting - to deliver the best in their events. |
Ruan Kent presented a case study on how one global company with an Irish presence use web casting. |
Mary O'Rawe impressed us all with her description of her second life - and how to be innovative and different. It was a fascinating presentation, leaving us all very curious... |
Conor Kenny told us about his Ideas Factory and where ideas come from for him. |
Clyde summed up the day and talked of his own concerns on how we all have to become even more professional in our events delivery. |

| Some Comments & Feedback |
| Conor summarises the feedback later in this edition, but I was blown away by some of the emails that came in the following day and just have to share!
| "just a short note to say congratulations and thanks again for a magnificent event yesterday. The quality & choice of speakers was superb and looking forward to Events day 08" |

| "Well done on a successful conference. The quality of the speakers was excellent and the event itself was impressive." |
| "Just a note to say THANK YOU... For a well planned event and I really enjoyed the day! I will be keeping in touch and networking now!" |
| "We really really enjoyed the whole day and I did sleep like a baby last night. I dont think that I have ever talked to so many people within such a short period of time." |
| "We just wanted to say a big thanks for Wednesday. It was a great success and most interesting and informative.
We’ll be very much looking forward to next years" |
| "Well done on yesterday's event. Location excellent, room FABULOUS and networking
brilliant." |
| "... a very big WELL DONE! I am sure you are absolutely wrecked today. I
do hope you had “several” well deserved drinks last night. I have to say, as always you
put on a “great show”. The venue was very nice, the support staff friendly and helpful,
the speakers informative, and the food was to die for! Even though I am not directly
involved in the industry, I have to admit I learnt lots and found the subjects to be
interesting. Also, from a networking perspective I definitely felt it was worth taking the
day out." |
| Huge thanks to all of you who took the time to email us and let us know what you thought. I had a few comments (of course!) on how we could do better next time but in all, I thought that everyone did a wonderful job, including the delegates and the showcase exhibitors (not to mention our sponsors). I am looking forward to next year... |
| |
| Speaking of The Exhibitors... |
| A full rundown on all the showcase exhibitors in the Showcase Report. A few additional thank-you's: To Ann Geraghty and Days Hotels... it was brilliant to see Ann Geraghty there (as it was to see everyone) but Ann was one of the first people I ever networked with! I'm not sure that she remembers the first time we met at one of the Dunlaoghaire Rathdown County Enterprise Boards networking events - about 4 years ago. Some networking relationships take a long time to mature (but they're worth it!). Also to Michael Jeffreys of Expanda Sign - although everybody was welcome at the showcase, Michael really proved the value of networking for me. Lisa had met Expanda Sign at the Marketing & Sales Promotion Show in the RDS in October 2005 and Michael then checked our references with Eugene Connolly of Pure Graphics - one of our favourite sponsors. More networking took place when Conor went up to the B4B Speed Networking in Belfast a week or so ago, where he networked again with Michael and also with Martin McMullan... |

| |
| Speaking of Our Sponsors... |
| We would not be able to do half of what we do without the hugely valued support of our sponsors. For Events Day 07, massive thanks to our sponsors: Mansion House Ltd for the Round Room (it was fantastic, and food was just gorgeous. Easily one of the best venues in town); SUMO Multimedia (as always, beautiful staging, excellent AV and a brilliant crew); Pure Graphics (I just love the print work and the conference programme); Bound to Impress (those packs worked out wonderfully!); Hire All Event & Party Hire (we'd be lost without you!); Pictaural (can't wait to see the enhanced podcast); and of course my team and board at Eventznet for putting up with all this! |
| |
| Speaking of The Team... |
| You know how you often want to clone yourself so that you can get everything done that has to be done? Well, I've got a better idea - surround yourself with people who can do stuff better than you can do yourself and you don't need a clone! The team involved in bringing Events Day 07: focus on being different to fruition was just fantastic. Aside from our sponsors and suppliers (all of whom were just brilliant) the team that worked on planning the conference originally (Lucy Horan, Clyde Carroll, Julie Mullane and Elaine O'Connor) were legendary! We were joined a month beforehand by Conor, who is proving to be a rather invaluable sort of chap... and on the day, two of my Eventznet Team Aimée Tyrrell and Fern Moore chipped in. We also had the pleasure again of the company and sharp eyes of Clare Brady from DIT (together with Julie on the registration desk), and some new (and incredibly helpful) helpers in the form of Ruth, Clodagh, Emma, Michelle and Ken from the Fitzwilliam Institute (thanks again Noel!), and Cara and Chantelle from DIT. |
