The Festival of World Cultures 2007 is having its launch party next Tuesday 7th August at 6.30pm.
The full festival, is being held on the 24th, 25th and the 26th August all over Dún Laoghaire. This years programme offers the most eclectic range of concerts, performances and events to date. Along with the spectacular Global Village in association with Oxfam, the energetic World Dance Plaza and the People's Park kaleidoscopic programme of performances and workshops, they are delighted to introduce some new programme highlights:
Cool Earth; an eco fair in association with the County Council's Enviornmental Awareness Programme and Cultivate and to celebrate the reopening of the newly developed Royal Marine Hotel, projection artists Emilio and Sebastian Arteage from Uruguay team up with Sainkho Namtychalk from Tuva to present a brilliant outdoor audio-visual projection show entitled "Facade - Art of Noise". Also, this year sees the inaugural Dún Laoghaire Mela; the Republic of Ireland's first ever festival dedicated to the celebration of the arts and culture of South East Asia.
Special Guests for the launch party include: The Walt Breakdancing Team, Manila Rhythm, Soul of the Punjab and many more.
This is shaping up to be an amazing festival, and NEO's very own Elaine O'Connor (Magnum Events), the conference organiser behind Events Day 07 has been working hard on this festival all year and we wish her and everyone else involved the best of luck.
