| PA of the year awards |
On the 8th November this year, PA-Assist.ie will host the 2007 PA Awards.
The country’s top PAs will receive due recognition for their central roles supporting Ireland’s leading business people. There are hundreds of personal assistants out there who organise events as part of the their overall job description and this is a chance to reward them for their efforts. Organised by pa-assist.ie, Ireland’s only resource and information website for Office Professionals, the Awards, now in their fourth year, will be presented at their annual awards ceremony on November 8th.
Commenting on the awards was Sandra Cummins (Director; Pa-assist.ie):
“We are delighted to let the search begin for this year’s top PA and welcome nominations from all those who would like to see their PA, Secretary or Executive Assistant commended for their hard work and support. A good PA is worth their weight in gold and PAs are regularly referred to as the ‘Unsung Heroes of the Office’, so we decided that these hard-working women and sometimes men, should be rewarded for their efficiency and dedication to their bosses. The Awards recognise the pivotal role of PAs which is an evolving and ever changing one, demanding professionalism, skill, efficiency, and dedication. Many PAs go on to run their own highly successful businesses becoming leaders in their own right.”
The coveted PA Awards include:
- Financial PA of the Year
- Professional Services PA of the Year
- Medical and Pharmaceutical PA of the Year
- Sales & Marketing PA of the Year
- Training, Education & HR PA of the Year
And the Oscar of the Awards:
- The Overall PA of the Year for 2007.
We encourage business managers from all sectors to nominate their PA , Secretary or Executive Assistant who fulfils criteria such as excelling in their role of support services, exceptional skills in office management, performance of their tasks with confidentiality and confidence; showing a commitment to efficiency and capability to working on own initiative and are pleasant and caring within the work place.

Launching the 2007 Pa-assist.ie PA of the Year Awards (from right to left) was former PA & model Sarah Clohessy, well-known broadcaster and Awards MC Marty Whelan, the 2006 winner Alison Ladrigan from GE Money and Sandra Cummins of PA-Assist.ie.
|
Hundreds of nominations poured in last year from CEOs, Chairs, MDs and company directors who all felt their hard working PA deserved to have their chance in the limelight and pa-assist.ie hope to double the number this year!
The winning PA in 2006 Alison Ladrigan was Ireland’s answer to ‘Wonder Woman’. Being a mum to two small children, the PA to the Chief Executive of GE Money had also recently walked 100km in Cambodia for charity …and all in her stride!
Following the Awards this year’s Top PA of the Year will be able to leave the office behind and take to the sun drenched shores of Sardinia where they can wallow in the first prize of a private villa with pool …and turn their mobiles off…or maybe not….
To nominate your PA and see them reap the award they truly deserve, or to register to attend the Awards Ceremony log onto www.pa-assist.ie or call 01 207 0092. The closing date for nominations are the 31st October 2007.

Philip Caswell, Director of BHP Insurance had this to say:
“Until the recent launch of EventSmart.ie the market for this type of risk was very small with the majority of insurers shying away from Event related businesses. EventSmart.ie has filled a gap in the insurance market. Too often Event Organisers find out at the last minute that they were under protected, if at all, for certain risks. Given the financial commitment involved in organising an Event, it is essential that the right insurance is in place to protect your investment.”
As members of Neo Ireland, Philip Caswell & Joann Hevey attended their first Networking Event, and had this to say about it"
"We attended The fifth “P” in Event Marketing on Tuesday 9th October at the Marketing Expo in the RDS and we were made feel very welcome. We got the opportunity to meet the Neo Ireland Team and a number of other members, which we hope to be able to assist with their Insurance requirements."

| All Change - My Desk Will be Missing Me! |
Sarah asked me to bury this in the members news as she doesn't really want to believe it. Well, I suppose the sad part of this news is that I'm moving on from being the NEO Network Manager. The happy part is that I'm taking up a new role as the Networking Manager... What's the difference? In my new role as Networking Manager I will be working part time for NEO, continuing to attend events, network with members and produce the ezine but I will hopefully be in a different full time position. <<Hint>> If you know of anyone who is looking for a dynamic and slightly crazy guy like me Sarah will pass on my private email address. I'm off to Oz for a couple of weeks, but when I come back I'll be looking for gainful employment!
<<Sarah's Note>> It won't only be the desk that will miss Conor, we all will. I'm really happy that he's not moving on completely, but will still be with us part time. Watch this space for news on NEO in the coming weeks! Good luck Soldier! Bring us back a Koala Bear...
