Conor: How long have you guys been together?
Tom: About a month. Though it has been a very very busy month for us. We have spent the time mostly doing private parties and corporate events.
Conor: Why Jazz?
Tom: I've been studying Jazz for about ten years now and I really enjoy the music.
Conor: How did you end up on the books with MPI - Martin Nolan & Associates?
Tom: Well, I have a few different projects going on at the moment. I am a presenter for BalconyTV.Com (winner of best music website at the 2007 digital media awards) and I work as a sound engineer for Session Hire (in the same building as MPI - Martin Nolan & Associates) so one day myself and Martin got talking and the rest is history.
Conor: My favourite question, if could say anything about Martin, what would it be?
Tom: He is a quiet guy who thinks positively. Always looking for ways to better himself.
Conor: wow... I wonder if Martin could help me better myself?..don't answer that :)
Conor: So Tom, I hear on the rumour mill (the rumour mill being a team of carrier pigeons that pass by my window each morning) that you have a claim to fame. Care to share?
Tom: Well, I once played in Woody Allen's band. I was in New York at one of his gigs and his band either walked off stage or had to leave. Anyway, the guy I was with just jumped up on stage and told Woody that "Tom is a legend of a double bass player". A few minutes later I was playing a set on the stage.
Conor: So what is the strangest thing that has happened to you at an event?
Tom: Well, this is not so much strange as weird. At a lot of events, there I am, playing away, doing my thing and people will just come up to be and start talking to me. They don't even seem to register that I'm performing and start asking: "Do you know that song?"/"Do you know the guy who organised this?". It is quite weird.
That is the end of the interview folks. The trio were fantastic on the night and the perfect example of the calibre of acts that Martin has available. Look out for Sharon Shannon next month and just remember, if you're looking for entertainment for any event, you need look no further then the NEO Ezine and MPI.
